At this meeting, the Task Force will be reviewing the draft report recommendations.

Meeting participants were presented with an update on the application for Florida Scenic Highway designation and some task force members discussed interest in maintaining a continuing role throughout the designation process. They also learned about the role of SR 40 in Florida?s Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) and in the Florida Intrastate Highway System (FIHS). Secondary impacts of roadway improvements were also reviewed with the aid of a land use map that was presented to them (included in the materials below).

At this meeting, the task force continued to review the guiding principles for the SR 40 scenic byway concept as well as proposed changes to the draft corridor design concept. There was also a presentation by FDOT addressing expressed concerns from task force members about managing speed and a presentation about SR 40 in Volusia County.

The topics at this meeting included continuation of discussions of revised guiding principles for SR 40 scenic highway and corridor design options, including recreational facility needs. FDOT also conducted a brief presentation about a proposed roundabout at SR 40 and SR 19.

The topics at this meeting included a discussion of revised guiding principles for SR 40 scenic highway, an initial look at corridor design options and recreational facility needs, and a review of the draft recommendations regarding enhanced use of controlled burns. This meeting took place at the Central Florida Community College, Ewers Center.
